Information about iPod Touch 16 Gb reviews

The iPod Touch is a great product with lots to offer, but its premium price tag and limited capacity should give some shoppers pause. Don't assume that Apple's most expensive iPod is the best solution for your needs. If you're planning on watching a lot of video, high-capacity products like the iPod Classic or Archos 605 WiFi will allow you to load entire seasons of your favorite TV shows

Design
For better or worse, the iPod Touch is clearly the iPhone's baby brother. Like most products that roll out of Apple, the Touch shows the love of committed designers, hardware engineers, and usability experts. The Touch measures a slim and pocketable 4.3 inches by 2.4 inches by 0.31 inch, with an all-metal-and-glass design that feels as expensive as it looks. Because nothing will ruin a portable video player faster than a gouge across its screen

It's no surprise that Apple has been on a screaming rampage of success with its gorgeous, high tech products these last few years. Every new release seems to cast a heavy shadow over its predecessor. This is certainly the case with the new iPod touch. The improvements over earlier designs - bigger, better LCD, touch screen controls, thinner frame, Wi-Fi access, etc. - are dramatic leaps forward, not only for the iPod itself but for future Apple products. The 16GB iPod touch, selling for $399 USD ($299 USD for the 8GB version), has all the signs of a permanent, monumental success. Read our review and check out our video to find out why you'll want this multi-function media player in your arsenal of tech.

As with other iPods, the touch lacks a user-replaceable battery, a memory expansion port, and stereo Bluetooth (a shame in such a mediacentric device), but with such an artful design and excellent performance, those are forgivable flaws. The iPod touch is the premier convergence device. And if you are making that choice, iPhone clearly wins out – it’s still got that neat interface, plus a whole variety of text- and phone-specific functions. It’s a superb phone that happens to double up as a slimline, pocket-sized media player, with the sort of memory one would expect from a product that size.”

“Pros: Beautiful and intuitive interface; iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store is fleet over fast Wi-Fi and very convenient; web browsing and YouTube video on an iPod; extra applications useful.

Cons: Darkly lit video and photos lack detail; no external volume controls or support for remote control; incompatible with old video accessories; no calendar event editing.”

Great, but isn't £279 a lot of cash to spend on a 16GB media player? Wouldn't you be better off with an iPod Classic? Well, there's not much in terms of raw specifications to distinguish it from the rest of the iPod range. You get the usual limited range of music file format support - just AAC, Apple Lossless and MP3 for music and H.264 and MPEG4 files for video. There's no FLAC, Ogg Vorbis or WMA support, nor any for DivX or WMV, MPEG1 or 2. Although very beautifully designed and fantastically thin at just 8mm, its pocket footprint is actually a little larger than a standard iPod, measuring 62mm wide by 110mm tall. And battery life is nothing to write home about either, weighing in at up to 22 hours for audio and a par-score five hours for video.

12 Practical Uses of GPS for Everyday People

By Simon Wyryzowski

GPS or Global Positioning Systems is a term that most commonly conjures up images of vehicle navigation systems, space-age satellite technology, and interactive maps for outdoors-types and sportsmen. But the reality is that there are far more applications of Global Positioning Systems beyond GPS vehicle tracking or map navigation that everyday people like us can benefit from. All it takes is a bit of creativity, and some trial and error. Here are a few of the many possibilities that can benefit you right now in your busy and hectic life.

1. Know where your children are using services from companies like uLocate Communications.

2. Keep track of elderly members of your family, so that they don't wander off alone.

3. Plan a road trip around interesting points of interests, landmarks, campsites, diners, etc, and hear fewer "Are we there yets?"- and of course get the most out of that expensive gas.

4. Get emergency road side assistance at a touch of a button from your vehicle, so you can get help exactly where and when you need it.

5. Keep a visual journal and bookmark collection of your favorite hot spots, sceneries, and points of interests, that may not be listed in any travel guide (You can create your own mini travel guides and memories).

6. Find lost pets easily using collars with built-in GPS, better than running around in your pajamas hollering like a maniac.

7. Feel safer with cellular phone 911 calls, so emergency personnel can pinpoint your location once you make an emergency call. Please double check your carrier service to see that it has GPS features and get a primer on how it works if possible.

8. Get to your interview, or any important time sensitive destination or engagement, faster by finding shortcuts and correct directions.

9. Find a good Italian restaurant near your movie theatre on the fly.

10. Track your luggage, laptops, and anything of importance while traveling.

11. Track and find family, friends in a crowded concert, graduation, or any social gathering.

12. When going on a vacation, feel free to separate from group for a while to venture on your own based on your own interests and find them later on with your GPS enabled device- even in an unfamiliar place.

Our ability to use GPS so far is limited by the relatively poor connection to the satellite feeds when we are indoors in buildings, homes, or behind anything that could obstruct the GPS connection. However with the investment and development in a new satellite network called Galileo which should be completed in the near future, these problems should be eliminated drastically. Despite these problems, GPS still offers a world of benefits as mentioned earlier, and with any technology, it will only get better.

In addition to more practical usage applications, GPS will make a great educational and fun gift for your loved one's and friends as well. Consider just two of the many creative and educational uses of GPS:

1. Stay physically active and fit by playing RayGun! A locational based cell phone game based on GPS technology.

2. Become more cultured, make global friends, and learn about the world playing GeoCache, a global GPS based treasure hunt.

With many affordable feature-rich models to satisfy anyone's preferences and budgets, now is as good a time as any to learn more about GPS technologies, which are surely to become more assimilated into the mainstream within the decade. One day we will take these things for granted just like we do now for the internet and cell phones. The key is to dive in, without paralyzing yourself with the overwhelming array of choices in the GPS market, and enjoying some truly amazing technology.

Become an instant expert on Global Positioning Systems whether it be on non-intrusive GPS tracking services for people, a GPS freight tracking system, or laptop or car tracking device. And more.

Vodafone offer streamed news

Vodafone 3G customers can now watch a live streamed television news bulletin on their 3G mobile just like one they'd see on the box at home.

In a New Zealand first announced today, Vodafone in partnership with Prime News will deliver 3G customers "Prime News: First at 5.30" daily as part of the Sky News streamed channel. Prime is owned by Sky in New Zealand.

Tim Nichols, Head of Vodafone live! says this is a major milestone for Vodafone live! Mobile TV and marks the first evolution of the service since launch eight months ago.

"For the first time we can now offer a whole show to watch on your mobile at the same time it screens on the TV network. The fact that it's a news show is particularly relevant in today's fast paced world as many of us need to keep up to date but don't often make it home for the news," says Tim.

Vodafone has been closely monitoring viewing trends since launching 3G to deliver a service tailored to customer habits. Since launch, figures show the Sky News made-for-mobile channel is the most popular amongst customers, with viewing times spiking around lunchtime, the early evening and late at night.

"As a result of these trends Vodafone has partnered with Prime to deliver customers a streamed bulletin service during a time when they demand news most - the early evening," says Tim.

"Vodafone live! Mobile TV with 3G means you can get news in a way that suits your lifestyle. Whether you're waiting on the bus in traffic or working late, the news is right at your fingertips."

Mad4mobilephones.com has reviewed the service and it is excellent from a users point of view. Vodafone Live continues to provide innovation in 3G services.

Laptop Buyer’s Guide (Battery)

An important factor to consider is how much battery life you'll need on your laptop. No matter how much battery you have, using your built in DVD drive a lot and having a 15" TFT screen will drain it faster. Battery technology--just like any technology--is improving all the time. Yesterday's laptops featured Ni-Cad (Nickel-Cadmium) batteries that hurt the environment, didn't offer much up-time (comparatively), and had the annoying habit of remembering how long you have used them and refusing to work any longer the next time. Then there were NiMH (Nickel-Metal-Hydride) batteries. They offered longer life, better efficiency, and no memory problems. The current generation of laptops uses Lithium Ion batteries. These batteries are a gain in efficiency over NiMH batteries. Future batteries may be Lithium Metal batteries. They offer an extremely low discharge rate (long shelf life when charged) and efficiency improvements over Lithium Ion batteries, but movement towards new battery technology has slowed recently.

Some laptops claim up to five hours worth of up-time on one battery--take this figure with a grain of salt. That's probably how long the battery would last if you put on the blank-screen screen saver and didn't touch it for five hours. Expect more in the range of two or three hours per battery under continual use. If you plan to be on flights, trains, or buses for ten hours at a time, buy some extra batteries and use this feature, make sure you have a power plug handy, or consider buying a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) instead. Most PDAs typically tout a 9 hour or longer battery life.

At one point, Micron offered a battery plate that fit on the bottom of their laptops, adding size and a few pounds, but got you about 10 hours of battery life. If that's what you need, check around for interesting battery setups. Several manufacturers also offer laptops with expansion slots that will accept a variety of peripherals, including a second battery. The second battery can double your battery life, and make sure you get a battery charger to go with it so that you can charge both batteries at the same time (one in the laptop, one in the charger).

If you need it, get 3 or 4 extra batteries and keep them fully charged for those long flights. You may face additional scrutiny at the security check-points, though, and keep in mind that the batteries can cost up to and over US$200 apiece.
If you're having problems with a laptop crashing and shutting down randomly after using it for several months, chances are that the battery is what is causing the problem- even if it's plugged in. Laptops expect to be able to charge the battery, and if the battery is charging in a faulty manner, your laptop may decide to start shutting itself off. Hopefully, most newer designs take care of this type of problem, but we've seen it many times with older models.

Recommendations
Make sure you get a Lithium Ion battery. NiMH or, even worse, Ni-Cad are old technologies that are best forgotten.

Tips on choosing the right security cameras

Security cameras are today not limited to business establishments and hotels. Nowadays, security cameras are a great means of watching your property from the convenience of your home. You can thus prevent thefts and any unwanted entry.

When buying security cameras, it is important that you first study your needs. This means that you have to consider the area you need to be covered and thus the number of cameras required to study the area. When buying a security camera system, make sure that there are enough slots for future expansion.

If you need audio, then you have to opt for a camera system having audio recording equipment wherein you not only see what happens, but can hear as well. Such a security camera system is useful, and needed when you need everything to be documented. However, this is rather expensive and this is one reason why most people usually take only video records. You also have to choose if you want the security camera to record details in color or black and white. As expected, color cameras are more expensive, but are more sophisticated and give better pictures.

The next point to consider when choosing security cameras is to consider where you intend to locate the cameras. If the location is hard in wiring, then it is better to choose a wireless security camera system. Moreover when placing security cameras, it is better to place them in places that are conductive to high quality broadcast. There has to be no interference as wireless cameras are more flexible than the fixed wires ones.

If you intend to use the security camera for outdoor purposes, then there has to be special weatherproof housings. Moreover, as they can get vandalized, there has to be proper protection. Take into consideration the lighting of the area where you intend to place security cameras. If there is no proper lighting, then you will end up with muddy pictures which are of no use for surveillance.

Lastly, consider the locations of power sources and that they are protected from the elements and tampering. Keeping all these points into consideration, you are sure to end up with a security camera system that meets all your requirements.

Wanna Buy Cheap LCD Television?

LCD TVs are known to be on the expensive side and their reputation has suffered severely because they are seen as the TVs that require to sit right in front of them to have a proper view of the picture. But that was quite some time ago. The time might not appear to be that long considering the fact that the technological improvements take place on daily basis, and these improvements are incorporated in the products on monthly basis. In view of that it has been quite a while since LCD TVs have been improved to eradicate much of what it was criticized for.

The use of the TFT or Thin File Transistor technology ensures that the problems associated with angular resolution are resolved to a large extent. The same goes for what is called 'ghosting' troubles associated with cheaper LCD TVs of the bygone times.

The cost factor, however, has stayed, and there is no denying the fact that the LCD TVs do cost a tad more. However, the technological advances and proliferation has made it possible for the companies to offer the LCDs for much less than they used to.

To LCD televisions, the only viable competition comes from Plasma TVs, which, though great at producing quality pictures, wear away with time and are high on energy consumption. Besides, the newer versions of the LCD televisions give sharper picture, take less space and need far less electricity than the ones belonging to the last generation.

LCD came as a competition to regular tube TV and have evolved enough to stand in competition against Plasma TVs. They are much thinner and far lighter than tube TV and Plasma TV both. Of course, in terms of thinness and weight, the difference between a Plasma and an LCD is not as great as that between an LCD and a tube TV. But LCD does score over Plasma on that count.

Price factor is an important aspect and must be carefully considered. So, to find an affordable LCD TV, look around in those nearby stores that are known to offer variety and good service.
